We can never forget Atalji’s contribution to Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Industrial Package and Atal Tunnel: Jairam

On this occasion, Jairam Thakur said that we celebrate Atal Ji’s birthday as Good Governance Day and we celebrate it as Good Governance Day because he established parameters and standards in governance which include taking everyone along, working for everyone, working with honesty, we all get a very big message from him about this, from which we all get to learn a lot. If Atal Ji were alive today, he would have been 100 years old and certainly Atal Ji’s leadership was such for this country where he is known as a very popular leader, Atal Ji is also known as a poet. Jairam Thakur recalled Atal Ji’s lines “That attack has happened on my country, till I kill the enemy one by one and drive them away, there is no question of talking to anyone”, he said that Atal Ji also had a very big contribution in the form of starting the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, I think it has proved to be a boon for the hilly states. Today, Himachal Pradesh has nearly 4000 km of road and out of this, more than 2000 km is the contribution of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. If Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana had not been started, many villages in the country and in our Himachal Pradesh would still not have been connected by road because the state does not have the provision for such a budget.

Jairam Thakur said that Himachal was settled in the heart of Atal Ji, which he considered his home and did not accept at all, he accepted it practically, even while being the Prime Minister, he used to take out a few days and come to Manali and stay in Parini, recite poems, we had the good fortune of staying there with him and listening to his poems. Listening to Atal Ji’s address, talking to him, Jairam said that his huge contribution to Himachal Pradesh was also in the form of the industrial package that he got, otherwise it was very difficult for industry to come to Himachal Pradesh, through him today if our pharma is the largest in Asia, then it is located in Baddi Nalagarh. Atal Ji’s huge contribution to Himachal Pradesh was also the Atal Tunnel which is located in Rohtang, which we can never forget, life was very difficult for the people of Lahaul, commuting was very difficult. He used to be cut off from the world for five months and after the construction of Atal Tunnel, the people of Lahaul have the facility to travel and tourists from all over the world come to see the tunnel. As a poet, he always used to say, “I will not give up, I will not fight, I write and erase on the door of time, I sing a new song, I sing a new song”. These are the lines that always keep roaming in our mind.
