Unscheduled Power Cuts in Junga Raise Concern; 21 Electricity Department Posts Vacant

The public in the Junga area is facing significant difficulties due to frequent unannounced power cuts. Junga Tehsildar Kartikeya Sharma stated that complaints regarding power supply disruptions are being received daily from Junga and surrounding panchayats.
He said that the issue has been raised with the higher officials of the Electricity Board several times to resolve this problem, but despite this, the residents of the area are still not receiving regular and uninterrupted power supply. The irregular power supply is affecting not only the work of the general public but also the work of various government offices. He ordered the Electricity Board officials to repair the power lines.
The Tehsildar stated that the lack of electricity hinders the processing of land revenue-related work in the Tehsil offices. People in rural areas are also facing difficulties charging mobile phones and other electrical devices.
According to sources, a total of 21 posts of various categories are lying vacant in the Electricity Sub-Division Junga, due to which maintaining uninterrupted power supply in the area has become a challenge for the department. At present, only seven field employees are responsible for the maintenance of 139 electric transformers installed under the sub-division. The condition of the office staff also remains worrisome. Neither any servant nor any cleaning staff is posted in the Electricity Board office Junga. Apart from this, four posts of Junior Engineer, 10 posts of T-Mate, three posts of ALM and one post each of Senior Assistant and Clerk are lying vacant.
It’s worth noting that the staff shortage is clearly impacting the power system. In the event of a blown transformer fuse, it can often take 12 hours or more to replace it due to a lack of field staff.
Regarding this, the Assistant Engineer, Electricity Sub-Division, Junga, stated that despite the majority of field staff positions being vacant, every effort is being made to maintain normal power supply in the area. He added that the matter of filling the vacant positions has been raised with higher officials in the department.
