Fear of death gives rise to same human emotions that arise in a dutiful & innocent person under oath: Durgendra Singh Rajput

A national webinar was organized by the School of Law at Lingyas Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University on the relevance and admissibility of dying declaration under the Indian Evidence Act, of 1872. Head of the School Professor (Dr.) Monica Rastogi said that this program was organized by University Chancellor Dr. Picheshwar Gadhe, and Pro-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) M.K. It was done under the direction of Soni.
Program coordinator Mohini Taneja said that on this occasion, the Head of the Department of IIMT College of Law, Greater Noida, Durgendra Singh Rajput was present as the keynote speaker. Who discussed in detail the concept of dying declarations and the process of recording them. He said that a dying declaration is accepted as evidence on the basis that the fear of death arouses the same human emotions that arise in a conscientious and innocent person under oath. He explained that it is a statement that contains the last words of a person before his death which are believed to be true, and it is not motivated by any motive or malice. Therefore a dying declaration is admissible as evidence on the principle of necessity because it contains little hope of the maker’s survival, and if found reliable, it can certainly form the basis of conviction. About 139 participants from different states of the country like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab participated in this webinar.
Registrar Prem Kumar Salwan and Academic Dean Professor (Dr.) Seema Bushra congratulated all the staff members of the department on the success of the webinar held at the national level and inspired them to continue organizing such programs in the future. The contribution of Sweksha, Vivek, Shivendra, Shilpa, Ruchi, and Dr. Suresh Nagar was important in making this program successful.

The School of Law at Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) recently organized a National Webinar on the topic of “Relevancy and Admissibility of Dying Declarations under The Indian Evidence Act, 1872.” The Head of the school, Prof. (Dr.) Monika Rastogi mentioned that this event was conducted under the supervision of the Management Committee, which includes Chancellor Dr. Picheswar Gadde, Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) MK Soni, Registrar Mr. Prem Kumar Salvan, and Academic Dean Prof. Dr. Seema Bushra.

Ms. Mohini Taneja, the coordinator of the event, shared that the Resource Person, Mr. Durgendra Singh Rajpoot, who is the Head of IIMT College of Law in Greater Noida, discussed the concept of dying declarations and the process for recording them. Participants from various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab, took part in this enlightening webinar, and their enthusiasm was evident.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anjali Dixit. It’s important to acknowledge the valuable contributions of the faculty members, namely Ms. Sweksha, Mr. Vivek, Mr. Shivendra, Ms. Shilpa, Ms. Ruchi, and Dr. Suresh Nagar, who played a significant role in making this event successful.
