Students of Karewadidhar school were made aware about rabies
An awareness program was organized by the Animal Husbandry Department at the Government Primary School, Karewadidhar, in Junga tehsil, to mark World Rabies Day and World Animal Day. Veterinary Officer Dr. Jai Pal Basta informed students and teachers about the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures of rabies. He encouraged children to be sensitive to animals and treat them safely.
Dr. Jai Pal explained that rabies is a serious viral disease that can be spread through the bite of an infected dog or other mammal, or through contact of their saliva with wounds, eyes, or mouth. He emphasized that vigilance and timely treatment are essential to prevent this disease. Children were advised to avoid approaching or teasing unknown animals. Furthermore, they should not disturb animals while they are sleeping, eating, or nursing their young.
He explained that if an animal bites or scratches you, the affected area should be immediately washed thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes. Afterward, seek medical advice at the nearest health center without delay. To prevent rabies, it is essential to receive an anti-rabies vaccination as recommended by your doctor, and, if necessary, immunoglobulin.
Animal Husbandry Assistant Gyan Heta and Animal Friend Abhay Verma of the Animal Husbandry Department were also present at the program. They encouraged students and teachers to practice kindness, responsibility, and care towards animals.
