Roof and roads covered with sleet in Shimla today after thundershowers

The queen of hills Shimla facing acute dearth of snowfall in the winter season got thundershower moreover the roofs and roads were covered by the half inch thick sheet of sleet plummeting the mercury drastically. It was overcast since yesterday in the afternoon thundershower and light sleet caused the inclement weather. The light sleet cover the roofs and roads but normal traffic and public movement was not affected. A police officer said that Tourists resort Kufri is still open by vehicular traffic as no no snowfall recorded so far. The minimum and maximum temperature went up all time high in the town on February 18 in the state. Report arriving here said that district administration Lahaul Spiti stopped vehicular traffic in the district due to heavy snowfall till further order. Advisory also sounded by the administration that keep n view the heavy snowfall  Dhundi north   portal of ATR and Sissuare  movement of all type of vehicles on  this route would be restricted till further orders except for  vehicle in emergency  cases. BRO shall clear the road before allowing the traffic on it . The local people are adivised to avoid the travel in order to avoid unpleasant incidents. The Met office said that rain and thundershowers lashed Shimla town, Jubberhati, Kufri, Vakanaghat, Bengana in Una, Nadon and Anu in Hamirpur, Dhenta, Janjeyli and Thunag, Dharmshala and adjoining areas. The dark clouds are still hovering over the sky and high altitude areas of Chamba, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnnuar expressing light snowfall. In Last 24 hrs Koksar in Lahual Spiti 17 cm snow, Gondla 12 cm, Kukamseri nine cm, Keylong six cm . Bharmoour and Kothi got five mm rain and Manali and Saloni had one mm rain. In next 24 hrs the met offrice predicted mainly dry weather and fresh western disturbances likely affect the state from Feb 25 onwards in Mid and high reaches Minimum temperature of Shimla was recorded 8.4 degrees, Bhuntar Airport in Kullu 9.6 , Kalpa ,(Kinnaur) 3,  Dharamshala(Kangra) 6.2,  Una 12.7 , Nahan (Sirmaur) 16,   Keylong minus 1.2,  Solan 8.4, Manali 1.8, Kangra 13.8, Mandi 9.6, Bilaspur 12, Hamirpur 11.4, Chamba 10.4,  Dalhousie 8.3,  Jubberhatti Airport 13, Kufri 7.8 and Narakanda 6.2.
