Opposition Should Play a Constructive Role Instead of Criticizing the Government: Naresh Chauhan
Chief Minister’s Principal Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan stated that merely criticizing the government’s actions is not the sole responsibility of the opposition. In a healthy democracy, the opposition should cooperate with the government and play a constructive role. He made these remarks while speaking to the media here today.
Responding to statements made by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, Chauhan remarked that such leaders should speak to the media with greater responsibility. He further alleged that it seems like Thakur has made it his compulsion to issue statements against the government and criticize it without reason. Chauhan questioned Thakur’s tenure as Chief Minister, asking him to highlight any significant contributions or schemes he had brought from the central government for the state’s development.
Naresh Chauhan praised the current Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, for his exemplary leadership. He noted that Sukhu had generated an additional revenue of ₹2,200 crores, significantly strengthening the state’s financial position. He further highlighted initiatives aimed at transforming the state into a green state, promoting solar energy, and procuring 300 electric buses for the state transport corporation.
Criticizing the opposition, Chauhan said that the BJP’s sole objective seems to be plotting to destabilize the democratically elected government. He claimed that such conspiracies have exposed the BJP’s true face to the public. Under the dynamic leadership of CM Sukhu, the Congress government in the state remains robust, as evident from its victories in six assembly by-elections. He also pointed out the infighting within the BJP over leadership and dominance, which is now public knowledge.
Chauhan also questioned BJP leaders, particularly the four MPs from the state, about their failure to secure any special package for the state despite their party being in power
