Normal life remains paralyzed in Himachal, fresh snowfall plummets mercury

 Normal life remained paralyzed in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday as fresh snowfall on high altitudes in last 24 hrs and formation of thick layer of frost disrupted vehicular traffic and intensified cold wave with further plummeting Minimum temperature. State Disaster Management authority spokesperson confirmed that one person died of drowning in a river in Sirmour moreover 467  roads including three National Highway and 697 distribution Transformer Region are continue disrupted for last three days in the state. In past 24 hrs Pooh in Kinnaur recorded 

 11 cm snow, Kalpa – nine cm, Khadrala (Shimla)& Udaipur (Lahaul Spiti) six cm each , Kukumseri – five cm and Keylong three cm. In the day today Tourist resort Kufri recorded snowflake as Met Office recorded trace of snowfall and four mm rain in Tourist resort Manali. High reaches of Himachal Pradesh including Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Kinnuar and Shimla received light snowfall and likely to receive snowfall but Weather was mainly dry and sunny today which helped the state administration to restore number of roads and power supply affected by heavy snowfall and Windstorm. However state had received light rainfall in past 24 hrs as  Saloni (Chamba) had 28 mm rain, Dharmshala (Kangra)- 25 mm, Gaggal – 21mm, Nagrota Suriyan – 13 mm , Ghamroor, Bharmaur(Chamba) & Manali – 9 mm each , Palampur (Kangra) 7 mm, Guler – 6 mm and Dehra Gopipur – 5mm . Normal life is out of gear in Lahaul-Spiti district as Manali-Leh National Highway (NH-003)- Darcha Shinkula, Pangi Killar Highway ( SH – 26 ) and  Kaza road (NH-505) from Graphu to Kaza and Sumdo to Losar are closed for all types of vehicles.  Local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in case of snowfall. According to district administration as many as 150 roads are snowbound in Lahaul-Spiti district. In the district 167 DTR are down including 106 in Spiti and  61 in  Udaipur Sub Division. Shimla district is most affected as baring NH-5 total 180 roads are snowbound. In Rohru Subdivision 62 , Chopal 40, Rampur 33 and Jubbal 26 roads are closed. in Sub Division Kupvi nine road, Dodra Kawar six, Kotkhai three and Kumarsen one road was dnowaffected. In the district 241 DTR are down including 87 in Rohru, 72 in Rampur, 35 in Jubbal, 24 in Dodrakawar, 13 in Chopal and ten Sub Division Kotkhai . In Kinnuar district 72 roads including 33 in Pooh , 27 in Nichar and 12 in Subdivision Kalpa are snowbound and power supply is affected affected in 196 DTR including 102 DTR of Kalpa, 70 of Pooh and 24 of Nichar block.

According Sirmaur district administration  a man drowned in inflated Markanda River. In this incident 01 person died due to accident. Deceased identified as Ram Kumar S/o Sh. Kabir Sharma age 18 years old R/o Villlage Bhandora resident of District Sirsa Bihar. Siramaur district also received heavy snowfall in past three days as Churdhar, the highest peak of district has received eighth snowfall of the season due to which the cold wave has intensified.  Apart from this, Haripurdhar and Nohradhar of district Sirmaur have also received the third snowfall of the season due to which piles of snow have formed here. It was mainly dry today but snowfall started in the upper areas of district Sirmaur from Sunday night  which continued till Monday.  Due to heavy snowfall, the wheels of vehicles have also stopped on the roads and many areas have come under darkness due to power failure.  More than 4 feet of snow has fallen in Churdhar so far. Haripurdhar has received 15 cm of fresh snow.  Maa Bhangaini Temple complex and surrounding areas received 25 cm of snow, while Khardah Rodhar and Badialata received one feet of snow.  Due to the same fresh snowfall, people are holed up in their homes and are resorting to heaters with bonfires to avoid the cold. According to SDMA two roads of Sangrah Subdivision are snow bound. In Kullu district total 35 roads including Rohtang Pass NH-03 & Jalori Pass NH-305 are snowbound. Ten roads of Nirmand, seven of Manali and five of Kulu Subdivision are blocked. 11 DTR is down in Sub Division Thalot of District. Chamba district is also partly cut of road communication. SDMA said that 27 roads are snowbound in District 11 of Salooni and 10 in Tissa Subdivision. 66 DTR are down in district including 53 of Chamba and five in Salooni. 8 roads are closed and 16 DTR down in Mandi district. Minimum temperature plummet last night as it was under subzero in many places. Kaza was minus 17 degrees, Keylong minus eight, Kalpa minus five, Narkanda minus 7, Manali zero, Kufri one, Solan three, Shimla four, Bilaspur five, Una, Dharamshala, Mandi and Hamirpur six, Kangra seven. Met office forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hrs.
