Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the Congress party is strong and people in the state also supported him after alleged attempt by the BJP to topple his government.

He said that the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is against constitutional practice as opposition Chief ministers who are elected by the people are being arrested today. Mr Sukhu said that BJP is trying to put opposition leaders behind bars by using central agencies and this would set a wrong precedence in the country.

He said that the tendering of resignation by the three Independent members was not known to him and none of the Independent MLAs are under the control of the BJP and Congress. They are decided to fly in a Helicopter and given CRPF security by the center and BJP. They were voted by more than 25000 voters how could they tender resignation without taking consent of constituents? He said that three MLAs must have explained before accusing the Congress government why they voted in the alleged exchange of cash(currency notes) and they are not in a position to face the public now and they are keeping them out of state and staying in the luxury hotels along with six disqualified MLAs. He said that three MLAs didn’t respect the public mandate after quitting in such suspense and without explaining why they indulged in murky deals.
