Nalagarh Fraud Case: FIR Over Alleged Fake Mining Passes, Ex-MLA’s Son Among Those Named

Around 2,500 allegedly forged M-forms suspected to have been used for construction material; former MLA KL Thakur calls case politically motivated

Nalagarh: Police have registered an FIR in connection with an alleged multi-crore fraud involving the suspected use of fake mining transit passes for construction work in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial belt.

The case involves around 2,500 allegedly forged M-forms, or mining transit passes, which were reportedly generated through a fake website resembling that of the Mining Department. The documents are alleged to have been used to show the supply of construction material for road infrastructure work, potentially causing substantial loss to the state exchequer through unpaid royalty.

According to a complaint filed by Mohan Sharma, the alleged irregularities relate to the construction of six culverts on the Nalagarh-Swarghat road between Nalagarh and Baglaihar. Sharma alleged that a fake website was created to make the supply of construction material appear legitimate and that forged M-forms were used to record the transactions.

The matter was subsequently brought to the notice of the state government, which directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to initiate an inquiry. Following the directions, the DSP Parwanoo conducted a preliminary investigation.

Based on the findings of the preliminary probe, an FIR was registered at Nalagarh Police Station. Those named in the case include Anchit Thakur, owner of Ruhani Stone Crusher and son of former Nalagarh MLA KL Thakur, Ganpati Builders, as well as officials of the National Highways and Mining Departments who were posted in the departments concerned at the time.

Police are now examining the alleged use of forged transit passes, the supply of construction material and the possible involvement of other individuals. Investigators are also expected to assess the extent of the alleged financial loss and determine responsibility.

Meanwhile, former MLA KL Thakur has rejected the allegations against his son and accused the state government of pursuing a political vendetta against his family.

Thakur alleged that his family has been targeted since he distanced himself from the government. He claimed that his brother had earlier been implicated in what he termed a false case and said similar action was now being taken against his son.

Maintaining that the allegations were baseless, the former MLA expressed faith in the judicial process and said the truth would eventually come out.
