Multistorey buildings collapse near Degree College Dhami in Shimla

 Multistorey building on the National Highway -88 near Government Degree College Dhami under Dhami police station capsized around 1315 hrs on Saturday no loss of life was reported in the mishap.

Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said a multistorey building capsized on Saturday on Shimla -Dharmshala NH-88. The building was evacuated before it collapsed.

He said that the owner of the building was identified as Rajkumar. The exact cause of the building collapse couldn’t be confirmed but SP informed that engineers of the public workers Department rushed to the spot to find out the reason for the incident.

He said that digging near the ill-fated building may be the cause of the mishap, but the structure engineer’s report would ascertain the exact cause. Buckling of the columns on the ground floor could have caused the collapse, further reports are awaited.

The impact of the capsized building suddenly developed clouds of dust after the mishap. 

The mishap also disrupted vehicular traffic for some time.
