Minor Earthquake Hits Kullu District of Himachal

Early Friday morning, Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh experienced a magnitude 3 earthquake, confirmed by the Indian Meteorological Department. The tremor occurred at 3:39 AM, with its epicenter at a latitude of 31.48 and a longitude of 77.53, and a depth of 10 km.

Residents in several parts of Kullu felt the quake; however, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage. The earthquake’s relatively low magnitude and the remote location of its epicenter in the hilly terrain likely contributed to the lack of significant impact.

Although there was no immediate damage, the event highlights the seismic activity in the region, which is part of the seismically active Himalayan belt. This area frequently experiences minor to moderate earthquakes due to ongoing tectonic movements.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation to ensure there are no delayed aftereffects or hidden damages. Local residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols during such events.

Overall, while the earthquake caused a brief period of concern among residents, the quick confirmation of no damage has provided reassurance. It underscores the importance of preparedness and timely information dissemination in managing natural events in earthquake-prone regions like Himachal Pradesh.
