Lions Club Shimla Holds BOD-cum-General House Meeting; New Office Bearers Take Charge

The Board of Directors-cum-General House Meeting of Lions Club Shimla was held on Sunday, 19th July 2026, at Utsav Hall, Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla, in a cordial and enthusiastic atmosphere. The meeting marked the formal handing over of charge from the outgoing President of the session 2025–26 to the newly elected President for the Lionistic year 2026–27.

The proceedings commenced with the presentation of a comprehensive annual report highlighting the various service activities and welfare projects undertaken by the club during the year 2025–26. The report reflected the club’s unwavering commitment towards humanitarian service and community welfare. This was followed by the presentation of the audited statement of accounts by Lion Prof. C. L. Sankhyan, which was discussed and unanimously approved by the General House.

Addressing the gathering, Area Leader Lion Man Mohan Verma highly appreciated the remarkable work carried out by the outgoing team under the leadership of President Lion Gopal Krishan Vaid. He lauded the successful organisation of several meaningful projects, including voluntary blood donation camps, eye check-up camps, tree plantation drives, “Food for Hunger” service projects for patients and their attendants in various hospitals of Shimla, besides numerous donation and community welfare programmes conducted throughout the year. He congratulated the outgoing team for its dedicated service and expressed confidence that the newly elected office bearers would carry forward the club’s glorious tradition of selfless service with equal zeal and commitment.

The outgoing President, Lion Gopal Krishan Vaid, presented the vote of thanks and expressed his sincere gratitude to all members for their wholehearted support and cooperation during his tenure. He assured the incoming team of his full cooperation and guidance in implementing future service projects for the benefit of society.

The newly elected office bearers for the Lionistic year 2026–27—President Lion O. P. Mehta, Secretary Lion Prof. Daleep Kumar Sharma, and Treasurer Lion Prof. K. C. Sharma—were warmly welcomed and felicitated with garlands by the members of the club.

In his inaugural address as President, Lion O. P. Mehta thanked the members for reposing their faith in him and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the club’s service activities. He assured the General House that the club would continue to undertake meaningful projects aimed at serving the underprivileged and contributing to the welfare of society. He also announced that a tree plantation campaign would be organised during the coming week as the first major environmental initiative of the new session.

The meeting concluded on a note of optimism and renewed enthusiasm, with members pledging to work collectively to uphold the ideals of Lionism—”We Serve”—through dedicated community service during the year 2026–27.
