Link Aadhaar with Ration Card by 29th February
A spokesperson of the department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs stated here today that the date to link the Aadhaar number with ration cards, and updating e-KYC and mobile number on ration card has been extended till February 29, 2024.
The decision to extend the date has been taken in order to facilitate the consumers who have not yet registered or updated their information. The department was linking the Aadhaar number with the ration card of the consumers in order to bring transparency in the public distribution system.
The spokesperson said that if the Aadhaar was not linked till 29th February, the ration card of that consumer would be temporarily blocked. The card would be unblocked only after the formalities would be completed, he added.
It was also being ensured through the e-KYC that name, date of birth and gender entered in the ration card were same as the data entered in the Aadhaar card of a person. The eKYC could be done by a consumer by visiting nearby Fair Price Shop. Consumers can also update their mobile numbers by clicking on ‘Update Mobile Number’ on https://epds.hp.gov.in/.
