Kingpin of Shimla’s Drug Network Nabbed After Month-Long Chase

Shimla police have successfully dismantled an interstate drug racket that had been fueling the supply of chitta (heroin) in the Rohru and Chirgaon region.

The alleged mastermind, Amit Gupta, 30, from Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh, was running a delivery-style operation from Lucknow. Small packets of chitta were hidden at various locations and distributed through local operatives, making the network harder to trace.

The breakthrough came on March 15, when Rohru police arrested Sarthak, 29, with 9.17 grams of chitta. Investigations revealed Gupta as the main supplier behind the chain. A team was dispatched to Lucknow, but Gupta had already fled. After weeks of pursuit, he was finally tracked down and arrested in Chandigarh on April 11.

Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh confirmed Gupta’s arrest. He was produced before a local court and remanded to police custody until April 14. The investigation continues, with authorities working to uncover the full extent of the network.
