IIM Sirmaur Hosts Tourism Industry Leaders
Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIM) organized the Industry Advisory Board 3.0
meeting, hosting esteemed leaders from the travel and tourism industry, including
representatives from globally recognized organizations like American Express GBT, Alike.io
and FCM. Their participation enriched the day’s proceedings and provided IIM Sirmaur
students with invaluable insights into the evolving dynamics of the tourism sector.
The day commenced with a plantation drive near the newly inaugurated academic block,
symbolizing IIM Sirmaur’s commitment to sustainability and a greener future. The
dignitaries, along with faculty members and students, planted saplings, laying down roots for
an eco-friendly and clean environment.
This was followed by a conference between the institute’s leadership and the industry
representatives, where discussions revolved around aligning the MBA (Tourism
Management) and MBA (Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management) curriculum with
emerging industry trends. These interactions reinforced IIM Sirmaur’s unique position as the
only IIM offering an MBA program exclusively focused on tourism, showcasing its
dedication to providing industry-relevant education.
The centerpiece of the event was the Roundtable Mentorship Workshop, where students had
the unique opportunity to engage in personalized mentorship sessions with industry leaders.
These discussions allowed students to seek guidance, career advice, and insights into the
evolving demands of the tourism sector. The direct interaction with such stalwarts not only
broadened the students’ perspectives but also equipped them with knowledge to prepare for
dynamic careers in the industry.
The celebration of IAB 3.0 not only reinforced IIM Sirmaur’s role as a thought leader in
tourism education but also provided a platform for fostering meaningful collaborations
between academia and industry, setting the stage for a sustainable and innovative future in
the tourism sector.
