Himachal sets sights on rapid tourism development

Tourism Corporation Chairman RS Bali, holding a cabinet rank, has pledged to accelerate the pace of tourism development in Himachal Pradesh, aiming to make the state a global tourist hub. Addressing public concerns in the Nagarota assembly constituency, Bali announced that a substantial ₹2,500 crore will be invested in tourism projects with assistance from the Asian Development Bank.

He emphasized that tourism holds immense potential for employment and economic growth, which is why the state government is prioritizing bold initiatives in this sector. “Tourism is the backbone of Himachal’s economy, providing livelihoods to thousands of families directly and indirectly,” said Bali.

Outlining key projects, he highlighted plans for a wedding resort and a heliport in Palampur, an international convention center in Dharamshala, a zoological park in Bankhandi, an old-age wellness resort and high-end fountain in Nagarota Bagwan, and an ice-skating and roller-skating rink in Dharamshala. Additionally, an international-level music fountain will be established in Nagarota, expected to become a major tourist attraction.

Bali stressed the state government’s commitment to developing religious, adventure, and natural tourism infrastructure to unlock the full potential of Himachal Pradesh’s scenic beauty. With an ambitious goal of welcoming five million tourists annually, he expressed confidence in the state’s rising appeal as one of the safest and most captivating tourist destinations in the world.

To enhance the travel experience, he announced plans for hi-tech buses that will provide comfortable journeys and panoramic views of Himachal’s stunning landscapes. Furthermore, efforts will be made to strengthen tourism information centers, ensuring visitors receive seamless support and guidance during their trips.

“With our renewed focus on infrastructure and showcasing the natural charm of Himachal, the state is on the path to becoming a premier global tourist destination,” said Bali.

If the Himachal Govt is serious about expanding the tourism sector….then it must work first on the mindset of it industry which treats the tourists as a milching cow and kinda have a view that these people are exploiting the nature and beauty of Himachal which is something that they own and the visitors must pay through their noses for enjoying it…. and this attitude goes in the government machinery too…..make it welcome for the visitors and the state will benifit enormously…… with no malice towards anyone…..🙏
