Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti Celebrates 35 Years of Its Parent Organization

The Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti organized a state-level event at GGD SD College, Rajpur, Palampur, to celebrate the 35th foundation anniversary of its parent organization, Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti. The college’s Director and Principal, Dr. Vivek Sharma, welcomed and expressed gratitude to the Samiti for hosting the event.

As part of the Samiti’s “Yuva Bachao Abhiyan” (Save Youth Campaign), Vijay Kumar, a consultant from “Gunjan,” engaged with the college students and participants in an interactive session on drug de-addiction. The event also honored senior members of the Samiti, aged over 80, with the “Gyan Vigyan Samman” award for their contributions.

Those honored included:

Prof. Sundar Lohia (91), former state president and renowned litterateur

Ramesh Sharma, former state vice president

Manohar Mehta, former district president

Om Prakash Prabhakar

Suram Singh

Additionally, the “Gunjan” organization was recognized for its exceptional work in combating drug addiction, and Vijay Kumar received the award on its behalf.

The awards were presented by the founding president of the Samiti and former national general secretary of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, along with Kangra District’s founding president, Dr. Hardev Katoch, retired college principal Dr. R.K. Jistu, and Dr. Vivek Sharma.

Honoring Senior Contributors

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar expressed his heartfelt emotions, saying it was a proud and touching moment to honor senior contributors for their invaluable efforts. He emphasized the importance of celebrating such personalities and their impactful work. Dr. Tanwar also highlighted the Samiti’s initiatives, including literacy campaigns and movements like “Beti Bachao” (Save the Girl Child) and “Kheti Bachao” (Save Farming), shedding light on the grassroots-driven people’s science movement of the 1980s.

A Call for Social Responsibility

State Secretary Satyawan Pundir, while conducting the program, urged the youth to take a stand against substance abuse and encouraged activists to create social pressure to curb drug addiction.

The event also featured cultural performances by members of the Samiti’s Art Jatha, including artists like Surjeet, Pankaj, Babli, Naveen, Vijay, and Neera, who energized the audience with songs reflecting social awareness and collective action.

Sharing Experiences

The honored senior members shared their inspiring experiences and journeys, further motivating the attendees. The auditorium resonated with songs of public consciousness, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and determination to bring about positive change.
