Himachal Govt’s financial aid revives hope for disaster survivors in Karsog
A wave of hope has returned to the faces of those who lost everything in last year’s devastating disaster, as government support breathes life back into dreams of a new home. The state government’s generous relief package has proven a blessing, helping families affected by the 2023 natural disaster to rebuild what they lost.
In the Karsog area alone, 45 families who were left homeless have been able to restart with this financial assistance. For the first time, the government provided a substantial 7 lakh rupees per family to help them reconstruct their homes from the ground up. Thanks to this aid, families can now rebuild homes that were once just memories, bringing them a sense of security and relief.
A Step-by-Step Path to Recovery
According to the special relief package, each affected family in Karsog has already received 6.8 lakh rupees, disbursed in installments. With this funding, the majority of homes are close to completion. The government plans to provide an additional 20,000 rupees per family for painting and finishing touches, ensuring that their new homes truly feel like their own.
A Dream Rebuilt, A Community Restored
Families like Fulma Devi from Bagain, Devendra Kumar from Ralla, Tek Chand, and Suresh Kumar from Bakrot still recall the tragedy that swept everything away last year. Yet, under the compassionate leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, these residents have found the courage to rebuild. His empathetic approach and quick action inspired a wave of resilience among the community, helping them rebuild their lives and homes in ways they never thought possible.
A Historic Support Package
For the first time, the state provided such significant financial aid to disaster victims, setting a new standard of support. Previously, families struggled to secure even 1.5 lakh rupees in aid, but the current government’s package of 7 lakh rupees per family has enabled them to rebuild without the financial strain.
3 Crore Rupees for 45 Families: A Commitment to Rebuilding
Acting SDM and Tehsildar Varun Gulati shared that about 3 crore rupees have been allocated for 45 families in Karsog subdivision. These funds represent not only an economic investment but also a powerful message of solidarity and support from the state government, which stands by its people in their time of need.
