Himachal Govt to present its stand in pending Godavarman case: Jagat Singh Negi
A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to provide relief to small and marginal farmers as well as landless families of the state was held here today under the chairmanship of Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi. The legal aspects concerning small and marginal farmers and landless families were discussed in the meeting.
Jagat Singh Negi said that during a unanimous resolution was passed in Assembly session earlier that advocated for suitable amendment to the Forest Conservation Act (FCA), 1980. He said that the resolution was subsequently sent to the Central Government with an objective of ensuring relief for small and marginal farmers and landless families.
The Revenue Minister said that keeping in view the Godavarman case pending before the Supreme Court, the state government would also represent its stand and file a petition seeking the implementation of the provision of 1952 notification regarding the Forest Act, 1927.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Chairman, State Planning Commission Nand Lal, Additional Chief Secretary Onkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary, Law Sharad Kumar Lagwal, Head of Forest Forces Sameer Rastogi, Chief Conservator of Forest Anil Sharma and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
