Himachal faces monsoon fury, heavy downpour in Shimla

As the monsoon season unfolds, Shimla residents are grappling with the impact of heavy rainfall. Reports of damage have emerged from various parts of the city following last night’s rain. Although significant destruction from downpours has been minimal, the Municipal Corporation’s claims have been exposed due to debris overflowing from drains across the city. Garbage and debris have scattered onto the roads, causing inconvenience.

In a concerning incident, three vehicles were buried under debris on the Malyana Surala road. These vehicles were parked near the drain, and the heavy rain caused debris to flow into the drain, engulfing them. Fortunately, no one was in the drain or the vehicles at the time, preventing potential harm. Vehicle owners discovered their submerged vehicles in the morning and, with the help of laborers, worked to extract them from the debris.

Additionally, two other vehicles suffered damage when a hillside collapsed near Malyana bypass. These parked vehicles fell victim to the hill’s instability during the heavy rain late at night.
