Himachal Braces for Rising Temperatures and Mixed Weather Patterns

The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has forecasted a gradual increase in maximum temperatures by 2–3 degrees Celsius across many parts of Himachal Pradesh. While minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable, residents are advised to take precautions during peak afternoon hours due to potential health risks from hot winds.

Currently, Una has recorded the highest temperature in the state at 36.0°C, followed by Bilaspur at 33.0°C, Kangra at 32.5°C, Mandi at 30.8°C, and both Nahan and Solan at 30.0°C. Shimla remains relatively cooler at 23.0°C.

Relief Expected in Upper Hills from April 9

The lower and mid-hill regions will continue to experience dry and hot conditions, but a brief respite is anticipated for the higher reaches. The Met Department predicts light rain and snowfall in Chamba, Kullu, Kangra, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kinnaur on April 9, with isolated precipitation expected on April 10 and 11.

Lower hilly and plain areas may also see light showers on April 10 and 11, but dry weather is likely to persist in most parts of the state for the rest of the week.

This dual weather pattern, with heatwaves in some regions and snowfall in others, highlights the transitional nature of the current season in Himachal Pradesh.
