HGCTA unit strongly opposed the deduction of salary during study leave
The Government College Chail Koti HGCTA unit has strongly opposed the decision of the Himachal Pradesh government to give 40% of the monthly salary in the two-year study leave that college professors get. Unit President Ajay Kayth said that such notifications pose big challenges in the way of academic career of college teachers. On one hand, the new UGC Acts have made it mandatory to do PhD for career advancement and on the other hand the state government is discouraging it. Both these things are contradictory in themselves. Dr. Ajay said that the government should withdraw the said notification as soon as possible for the benefit of teachers and academic and research. Unit Secretary Dr. Amrit Singh Mehta, State Treasurer Dr. Devendra Sharma and Unit Treasurer Prof. I P Negi have also termed the notification as unfortunate and requested the government to withdraw the notification.
