Heavy rain caused a flood in Thund Nala, people suffered heavy losses

Due to heavy rain last night, the Thund Nala of Satlai Panchayat got flooded, causing heavy damage to the village road, fields, and water reservoir. According to the local people, a stone crusher has been operating in a private sector on the top of Thund village for the last 14 years. Due to the lack of a dumping site, all the debris of the crusher is thrown into the Thund Nala, which takes a terrible form every rainy season and damages the land of the people of Dhali Bagda village beside Thund. They say that due to heavy rain last night, the culvert of the Ambulance Road connecting Thund village has broken. Due to this, the farmers are facing a lot of difficulty in sending their produce of tomatoes, capsicum, and French beans to the vegetable markets. Apart from this, the crops have been destroyed due to the debris filling the farmers’ fields. The ancient water reservoir has also been filled with debris, due to which people have also faced the problem of drinking water.
Deepak Thakur, Ranjeet Thakur, Ashish Thakur, Ramesh Sharma, Satish Thakur, Nandlal Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, and Sadanand Sharma of Thund village expressed their anger towards the government and said that every year during the rainy season, the issue is raised with the government regarding the debris coming from Thund Nala, but they have received nothing except assurances. Accusing the mining department, they said that the stone crusher had been given permission without the consent of the local people, for which no NOC has been taken from the people of Thund and the surrounding villages. Due to the arbitrariness of the stone crusher, especially Thund village has to face trouble every rainy season. The government ignores this problem of theirs every year.
Deepak Thakur said that last year his fields were damaged due to the water of this drain and the owner of the stone crusher had assured to compensation for the damage but to date, he has not received anything.
When Tehsildar Junga Narayan Parmar was talked to about this, he said that the officials of Jal Shakti, Agriculture and Horticulture Department have been ordered to visit the spot and assess the damage caused by heavy rain in Thund village.
