Heal and Hustle: Medical Students Lead Marathon to Champion a Drug-Free Future on World Health Day
On the occasion of World Health Day, the students of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Nerchowk, took a powerful step toward promoting a healthier and drug-free society. Under the banner of the Global Association of Indian Medical Students, they organized a spirited marathon — not just for fitness, but with a cause that matters deeply: raising awareness among youth about the dangers of drug abuse.
The event, fittingly titled the “Heal and Hustle Marathon”, saw an enthusiastic turnout as hundreds of medical students, faculty members, health professionals, and local citizens laced up their shoes and joined the run from Nerchowk Medical College to Nagchala.
The marathon was flagged off by the principal of the college, Dr. D.K. Verma, setting the tone for a day filled with energy and purpose. Adding star power to the event, Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut graced the occasion and awarded prizes to the winners, further motivating participants and acknowledging their efforts.
Speaking about the initiative, a spokesperson for the Association shared, “The marathon was a vibrant reminder that the fight against drugs begins with awareness. Through this event, we wanted to send a loud and clear message — say no to drugs and say yes to life.”
Behind the scenes, several passionate individuals including Dr. Pritish Bhadwaj, Dr. Himanshu Kapoor, Dr. Kartik Saini, Natyana Sharma, Uday, and Jashandeep Singh Kang played key roles in bringing the event to life. The marathon concluded on a hopeful note, with a collective call for continued education, awareness, and community action to protect and empower the youth.
The event wasn’t just about crossing a finish line — it was about starting conversations, inspiring change, and moving together toward a healthier tomorrow.
