HC reserves verdict in Shimla MC delimitation case

Himachal Pradesh High court today reserved order 8 to a Election Petition filed by former counselors of CPI(M) Rajiv Thakur of CPI(M) and Congresss’s Siminanda  who had challenged delimitation of Shimla Mincipal Corporation by Deputy Commissioner Shimla and state government. The matter was listed for hearring before the court of Justice Sabina and Justice Shushil Kukreja on Tuesday and Wednesday to cancel the delimitation of Fagli and Summerhill wards. The high court had already passed an order in favour of the both Petitioner to consider the objection8 and complaint against the delimitation process being conducted in two MC wards and three other wards. The Petitioner again moved before the bench after Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Divisional Commissioner have rejected the objections and complainant of both Petitioner challenging the delimitation in the two wards. It is worthwhile to mention that State Election Commission have also knocked tje door of Superme court in this matter to set aside the stay order of High court and opposing this Petition to conduct Shia MC poll which was scheduled in month of June but could not be held owing to pending of matter before the high court. Tbe SC has ordered the state high court to dispose off the Petition and pronounced judgement in the matter before September 29 partly accepting the plea of SEC . Now High court expected to pass the verdict soon inwake of HC order which was reserved today. District Administration have increased the number of MC ward of Shimla to 41 from existing 34 recently to reduce the number of voters in each wards.
