Grant Sought from Minister for Renovation of Devta Junga Temple, Thund
A delegation from the Deity Junga (Devchand) Temple Construction Committee, located in Thund village of Dhali Gram Panchayat in Junga tehsil, met with Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh at his office in Shimla on Wednesday to discuss the temple’s construction work and other issues. The delegation was led by committee president Premchand and vice-president Manohar Singh Thakur.
Committee Vice President Manohar Singh Thakur informed the Minister that the nearly two-hundred-year-old temple of the deity Junga Devchand is undergoing renovation work. Villagers have contributed approximately 3 million rupees to the temple’s construction so far, and an additional 2.5 million rupees is needed to complete the project. Furthermore, a serai is proposed to be constructed near the temple complex for the convenience of devotees, which is estimated to cost approximately 500,000 rupees.
The delegation requested the Minister to complete the construction work of the temple and provide financial assistance for the construction of the inn.
Minister Aniruddha Singh assured that the matter of obtaining a grant from the Language and Culture Department for the temple’s construction would be raised with Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. He stated that the grant’s approval would depend on the availability of the budget. He also promised to consider providing the necessary funds for the construction of the inn.
Apart from the committee’s treasurer Deepak Rohal, other members including Suresh Verma, Pradeep Bragta, Rajiv Thakur, Joginder Thakur, Krishna Rohal were present in the delegation.
