Governor Gupta launched Tobacco-Free Himachal Campaign

Governor Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday launched the ‘Tobacco-Free Himachal’ campaign at Lok Bhavan, marking a fresh push toward a healthier and addiction-free state. The initiative is being led by YouVAH (Youth for Voluntary Action in Himachal) and will span all 12 districts, focusing on spreading awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and encouraging positive lifestyle choices.

A vibrant team of young YouVAH members met the Governor and shared insights into their broader mission, ‘Youth for Rise – No to Drugs, Yes to Passion’, under which the Tobacco-Free Himachal campaign is being активно implemented. The delegation explained how the organization is mobilizing young people across the state to say no to tobacco and drugs, and instead channel their energy into constructive and meaningful pursuits.

The team highlighted a range of on-ground activities, including awareness drives, community outreach programmes, educational campaigns and volunteer-led initiatives. These efforts are aimed at reaching students, youth and the wider public, helping them understand the long-term health and social consequences of tobacco and substance abuse.

Sharing appreciation for their work, the Governor emphasized that empowering young people with awareness and purpose is key to tackling substance abuse effectively. He said that when youth actively participate in social initiatives, they become powerful agents of change, capable of building a healthier and more responsible society.

Governor Gupta encouraged the organization to continue its dedicated efforts and assured them of his full support and guidance for the success of the campaign. He also stressed the importance of value-based education, positive thinking and engaging youth in nation-building and social development activities.

Those present on the occasion included YouVAH Co-founder Kapil Dev, Organization and Project Coordinator Rita, and State Executive Members Gaurav Thakur, Avantika Pamta, Pooja Thakur, Sanya and Yash Dixit, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to making Himachal Pradesh tobacco-free.
