Friends Sports Fagu won the volleyball trophy in Junga
Friends Sports Fagu performed brilliantly in the volleyball tournament held in Junga on Tuesday as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva fortnight, defeating CO-11 Police Battalion Junga to win the trophy. The competition was organized under the joint aegis of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) and Himachal Pradesh First Armed Battalion Junga. Eight teams from the region showed their strength in the competition.
SJVNL Director (Personnel) Ajay Sharma attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while Padmashree Nek Ram Sharma was the special guest. Congratulating the players from all teams, Ajay Sharma said that sports are an effective medium for developing a healthy body and positive thinking. He urged people to make cleanliness a part of their daily lives, not just campaigns. He also encouraged youth to stay away from drugs.
He said that during the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada, people are being raised awareness through various activities related to cleanliness, health, and sports. The volleyball competition aimed to connect youth with sports and inspire them to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and positive life.
Padmashree Nek Ram Sharma said that nutritious and natural foods, along with a clean environment, are essential for a healthy life. He advocated promoting natural farming and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Citing the saying “As you eat, so is your mind,” he urged the consumption of traditional grains with hygienic practices.
Earlier, Bhupendra Singh Negi, Commandant of the 1st Armed Battalion, Junga, welcomed the chief guest. He said that as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada, police personnel are spreading the message of cleanliness by conducting clean-up drives at various locations in the Junga area. He expressed his gratitude to SJVNL for organizing the competition and said that this is a commendable effort to engage youth in a positive direction through sports.
At the ceremony, Director Ajay Sharma and Padmashree Nek Ram Sharma honored individuals who provided outstanding service, including athletes. The Best Defender award went to Ashish of Fagu, the Best Spiker award went to Praveen of CO-11, and the Best Lifter award went to Kamal of Junga.
Present on the occasion were SJVNL CGM Seema Kumar, Parvind Negi, Rajendra Chauhan, Vipin Kumar, Sumeha Kaushal, officers and soldiers from the police battalion, and athletes from various fields. The police band entertained the audience with catchy tunes.
