Farmers of Junga region are delighted as they are getting good prices for French bean crop this year. Let us tell you that in Junga region, French bean, tomato, garlic, capsicum etc. cash crops are grown in large quantities on the lines of Solan, due to which revolutionary changes are being seen in the economy of farmers.
Note that this time the maximum price of French beans in the state’s biggest vegetable market Solan and Dhali was Rs. 120 per kilogram. Due to drought, these days French beans are being sold at Rs. 50 to Rs. 60 per kilogram, that is, the fall in the price of French beans has dashed the hopes of the farmers. However, due to the intense heat, the French bean crop is on the verge of drying up, due to which the pods of French beans have become small. Most of the farmers are producing cash crops by installing their own water lifts.
Let us tell you that French bean is grown in good quantity in many areas of Solan and Sirmaur district bordering Junga. Progressive farmer Pritam Thakur told that there are two types of French bean varieties, the first type with a tassel is sold at a low price, while the second type is Butia or Phalguni French bean which is grown without a tassel, gets good price in the market. According to Pritam Thakur, French bean crop is ready in the least time i.e. 60 days, in which farmers do not have to work very hard.
According to transporter Rajendra Thakur, the best beans are being sold at 50 to 70 rupees per kilogram in Dhali. Similarly, transporter Pradeep Bragta said that due to the heavy arrival of French beans from other areas of the state in Solan vegetable market, the rate has come down a bit. He says that the rate of French beans depends on its quality. Despite this, farmers are getting good prices for French beans.
