Failing of samples & Murky deal: Govt opt for Direct Benefit Transfer to fund school uniform

Failing of samples and Murky deals being witnessed for last few years in free school uniform scheme, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government decided to transfer School Uniform funds directly to 5.25 students having their schooling from state run schools. It is worthwhile to mention that Free Uniform remained discontinue for many years as samples of uniform passed by the department and concerned supplying agency failed successively. BJP government accepted it in the floor of house that samples of free school uniform failed many time however it has made promise of free school bags to students along with free uniform. After taking charge Congress Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu decided to opt Direct Benefit Transfer to directly transfer the amount to beneficiary students in their bank account so that they could purchase school uniform of their choice. Spokesperson of Education Department also confirmed the development stating that it had 

 transfer Uniform funds to all school students to ensure better amenities to the students of the government schools. State Government has decided to transfer an amount of Rs. 600 per student to all the boys and girls of 1st to 8th class through DBT for providing them free School uniform. The funds will be transferred directly in the name of the student or that of a mother. This will benefit about 5.25 lakh students. The government has taken this decision to minimize extra financial burden on the parents, he said, adding that transferring the amount directly to the beneficiary will also ensure transparency. Spokesperson said that Government has been taking various decisions to benefit them. 

Earlier, the students had to wait for the uniform because of the lengthy process of distribution of the uniforms, but now they can instantly go for the same.
