Disaster awareness program organized in Junga and Peeran schools
As part of the Disaster Mitigation Samarth-2025 campaign, an awareness program was organized on Tuesday at the Government Senior Secondary Schools in Junga and Peeran, courtesy of the District Disaster Management Authority and the Information and Public Relations Department. Artists from Surdhani Kalamanch informed students about natural disasters and how to protect themselves as much as possible through songs and short plays.
On this occasion, Tehsildar Junga Narayan Singh Verma said that there is no fixed time for a natural disaster to occur, but one should always be mentally prepared to deal with such situations. He said that before building a house, the correct location should be selected and it should be ensured that the place or area where the house is being built is not near rivers and streams or is prone to landslides. He said that weather warnings issued by the Meteorological Department and the administration should not be taken lightly and one should stay in one’s homes if warnings like heavy rain, snowfall or heat wave are issued during the scorching heat.
Asha, in charge of the cultural team, explained that through songs, music, and street plays, school children were made aware of safe construction practices, disaster risk reduction, safety measures during common disasters, and pre-disaster preparedness. She emphasized that we should have as much information as possible about disasters to prevent loss of life and property during a disaster.
Principal Mahesh Sharma participated in the programme organised at Junga School, Principal Devendra Chauhan participated in Peeran School and other staff members.
