Despite public opposition, the government is adamant on opening a de-addiction center in Junga Hospital: Dr. Tanwar

It is almost certain that a de-addiction centre will be opened on the upper floor of Civil Hospital Junga. Despite people’s opposition, the government is adamant on opening a de-addiction centre in this hospital, whereas there are many options available for opening a de-addiction centre in Junga. Yesterday, a team of senior officials of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department inspected the hospital building and requested the Public Works Department to prepare an estimate for the construction of ramps etc. on the top floor of the hospital. However, BMO Mashobra Dr. Rakesh Goyal, while presenting the departmental side on this occasion, said that opening a de-addiction centre will make it difficult to run the hospital. The government has included this hospital in the list for upgrading it to an ideal health institution and in this connection, CMO Shimla has sent an estimate of about Rs. 2.5 crore to the government for providing new equipment, CT scan and other machinery in the hospital. Despite the department presenting this strong side, the officials of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department said that this is the government’s order, which is being complied with by them.
On the other hand, District Shimla BJP President Prem Thakur says that opening a de-addiction centre on the upper floor of Civil Hospital Junga is not logical. The government has issued this arbitrary order without thinking and ignoring the ground level problems. Whereas there are many private buildings in Junga where this de-addiction centre can be operated.
Kisan Sabha has also taken a tough stand on this issue and has urged the government to reconsider this decision. State President Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar says that in the near future, if the status of this hospital is increased, there will be a rush of patients and the existing building will fall short for the operation of Adarsh Health Institute. Since Adarsh Health Institute will be equipped with specialist doctors and machinery, the pressure of patients on IGMC and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital will also reduce. Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar said that if the government does not consider their demand, then Kisan Sabha will not hesitate to protest.
Additional Director of Social Justice and Empowerment Department, District Welfare Officer Shimla KR Chauhan, BMO Mashobra Dr. Rakesh Goyal, SDO PWD Junga Devesh Thakur and other officers of the department were present in this team.
