Delhi vs Himachal: Police Clash Over Youth Congress Arrests

What began as a political tussle between the BJP-led Centre and the Congress government in Himachal has now spilled onto the streets—turning into a rare face-off between Delhi Police and Himachal Police.

The spark came after Delhi Police reportedly arrested three Youth Congress activists from Rohru in Shimla district, following their shirtless protest at the AI summit in New Delhi on February 20. But the move backfired. Acting on orders from senior authorities, Himachal’s Solan Police intercepted the Delhi team at Dharampur, freed the activists, and detained nearly 20 Delhi policemen.

Himachal officials slammed Delhi Police for acting illegally, pointing out that no prior intimation was given before entering the state and making arrests. Solan SP Tirumalaraju SD Varma confirmed that while nakas were set up by Solan Police, the actual action against Delhi cops was carried out by Shimla Police.

This confrontation comes just days after Delhi Police raided Himachal Sadan in New Delhi at midnight, allegedly entering a woman’s room—an incident that drew sharp criticism from CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. This is a developing story and will be updated shortly.
