Closing 16 routes of HRTC buses is not logical: Mela Ram Sharma

Sirmaur District BJP spokesperson Melaram Sharma has accused the Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh of doing grave injustice to the people of Sirmour by closing 16 routes of HRTC buses in Sirmour district. He said that since the services of HTC were implemented in the state, these services were called welfare services of a welfare government and due to the change in the system, now the Sukhu government has issued an order to close the routes of the buses which have been running for the last 40 years by declaring them to be in loss. Due to this, thousands of school children, college going students, handicapped, women and farmers and gardeners who travel daily on these routes in various areas of Sirmour district will have to face great difficulties, who travel daily in government buses in these backward areas to reach their destination. He said that till date, many welfare governments have come in the last 30-40 years but this is the first government which is giving these routes to private bus operators by declaring the services of HTC to be in loss. Mela Ram Sharma alleged that on these routes passengers used to travel on the roof of HTC buses daily and it is surprising that despite having so many passengers, Sukhu Government is declaring these routes as loss making. He said that if these routes are running in loss then how can any private operator provide bus services on loss making routes. He said that if Sukhu Government does not withdraw this Tughlaqi decree then the people of Sirmaur district will have to come out on the streets and take this government to task for changing the system.
