BJP pushes nation to economic backwardness: Sharma
Lashinng out at the ruling BJP for pushing the nation towards economic backwardness, senior congress leader and MP Anand Sharma today said that Himachal has not witnessed the speedy progress during the past four years of rule while inflation and unemployment have made the lives of common men more miserable.
Addressing a public meeting at Mandhala village in Doon constituency of Solan district, Sharma said that today there were many questions in Himachal and the country which the public was raising but the ruling party leaders were turning their backs towards people’s problems. .
There is no employment for youth, there was an economic slowdown in the country. The central and state governments should think about employment and make plans so that employment opportunities were ensured in coming times.
Earlier, hundreds of workers of Doon Congress and Doon Youth Congress, including state Congress vice-president and former MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary, Congress secretary Madan Lal Chaudhary, councilor Surjit Chaudhary accord him warm welcome.
Anand Sharma said that the central and state governments have proved to be leggy on the development front. The promises and false assurances on which the BJP government assumed the power at the Center and in the state, those promises were not being fulfilled.
In the name of development, BJP governments have given nothing but unemployment and inflation to the people. The BJP, which came to power with the promise of 2 crore jobs every year, has betrayed the youth during past eight years across the country.
Emboldened over the crowd in the public meeting, he said that if such a crowd has gathered in the recently decided programme in Doon assembly segment, this was indicative of that the victory of Chaudhary Ram Kumar in Doon is certain. On the demand of former MLA Ram Kumar, he gave about 35 lakh rupees for the development to Durga Sports Club and other projects. Speaking on the occasion, State Congress Vice President and former MLA Doon Ram Kumar Chaudhary said that in the last four and a half years, the BJP MLAs could not even complete the works started during the regime of the Congress. The works of bridges, school buildings, college building, Baddi hospital building, Degree College Barotiwala building, polytechnic college building are lying incomplete.
The budget of two bridges, Baniyadevi bridge, Kuthad bridge, Khairanwala, Baguwala-Kainwawala bridge, Lodimajra Banbirpur bridge, Chunari bridges on the Gambhar khad were approved in the Congress work but all these bridges could not be completed yet. The MLA’s own home road, Bhud Bhatauli Patta, is in poor condition. Rs 3 crore was sanctioned for Mandhala- Gunai- Ghadgal Road, which diverted money to Kasauli, which the MLA was not aware of.
300 roads were built by former MLA Late Lajja Ram and during his own tenure, Doon MLAs could not get it repaired. A budget of Rs 700 crore was spent on development in the Doon Vis region during the tenure of the Congress. At the same time, BJP has completely failed in getting the works approved during the Congress tenure. Today the people of Doon have termed the BJP MLA as a failure.
MLA Paramjit Singh Pammi failed to bring new development projects in the last four and a half years. The budget of BBNDA was made Rs 72 crores during Congress tenure, which was reduced to 14 crores during BJP tenure. In Doon, 85 percent of the gram panchayats were elected by the Congress’ public representatives.
At the same time, in the city council also, the public had given majority to the Congress councilors, but the BJP captured the NAP through fraud. Today in NP, BJP is on a ventilator due to the no-confidence motion, but by misusing the power and throttling the democratic process, the BJP is trying to save the BJP in the city council.
On the occasion, over 40 families joined the congress giving severe jolt to BJP.
