A Betrayal of Promises: BJP’s Rajiv Bindal Slams Congress Over Job Trainee Scheme in Himachal
In a fiery press conference held in Shimla, BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal launched a strong critique of the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government’s newly announced job trainee scheme. Calling it a “trap” and a “temporary lifeline,” Bindal accused the government of misleading the state’s unemployed youth with hollow promises and unclear policies.
“This government only knows how to cheat and exploit the youth,” Bindal said, expressing deep disappointment over what he described as Congress’s failure to deliver on its pre-election commitments. He pointed to a video of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, where she had pledged to create 1 lakh permanent government jobs, including filling 63,000 vacant posts and adding 37,000 new ones. “Where are those jobs now?” he asked.
Bindal criticized the trainee scheme for lacking transparency and substance. “There’s no clarity on who will appoint these trainees or what benefits they’ll receive. They won’t even be covered under HIMCARE or Ayushman Bharat,” he claimed, adding that the scheme offers no real security or future.
He also highlighted the burdensome process of requiring candidates to clear two exams over two years without any guarantee of permanent employment. “This is exploitation disguised as reform,” he said.
Taking a political jab, Bindal alleged that job opportunities are being unfairly distributed among those close to the ruling party. “In Himachal today, it’s all about ‘forest friends’, ‘animal friends’, and ‘CM’s friends’—and jobs are handed out accordingly,” he remarked.
Bindal further accused the government of dismantling employment-generating institutions and scrapping 1.5 lakh job posts with a single notification. He lamented the cancellation and delay of competitive exams, which he said has left thousands of aspirants disheartened. “Our libraries are full of young people studying day and night, but this government offers them no future,” he said.
Calling the trainee scheme a “joke,” Bindal concluded that the Congress government lacks a genuine roadmap to tackle unemployment. “This isn’t a policy—it’s a betrayal of the hopes and dreams of Himachal’s youth.”
