8th conference of the CPI(M) local committee Shimla was successfully held at Kalibari Hall

The eighth conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Local Committee Shimla was successfully held at Kalibari Hall, Shimla. The conference began with an open session, where over a hundred party members participated. A 17-member committee was formed during the conference, with three positions remaining vacant. Comrade Jagat Ram was appointed as Secretary, while Comrades Balak Ram, Mahesh Verma, Ashok Verma, Sonia, Kamal, Pratap, Vikram, Hemraj Chaudhary, Dr. Vijay Kaushal, Ankush, Ritesh, Sunny, and Hitendra were elected as members.

The conference was inaugurated by the party’s State Secretary, Dr. Omkar Shad. Party State Secretariat member Mr. Rakesh Singha extended his best wishes to the conference. Several state committee members, including Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar, Sanjay Chauhan, Vijendra Mehra, Phalma Chauhan, Dr. Rajendra Chauhan, Jagmohan Thakur, and Ram Singh, were also present.

In their speeches, the speakers emphasized that since the BJP came to power at the center in 2014, the government has consistently worked to strip the working-class people of their rights. Subsidies for farmers and the general public have been abolished. The 44 labor laws, established over the past 100 years to protect workers’ rights, have been dismantled and replaced by four anti-worker labor codes. Due to the policies of the Modi government, unemployment in the country has surged, farmer suicides have increased, and the agricultural crisis has deepened. Exploitation and atrocities against workers, farmers, women, students, youth, Dalits, tribals, and minorities have risen sharply.

The Modi government has furthered a corporate-communal alliance to continue its policies of robbing the poor while granting more freedom to the rich. Over the last decade, the RSS and BJP have made every effort to dismantle the core structure of the Constitution. The gap between the rich and the poor has widened under Modi’s policies. India has produced the highest number of billionaires at the fastest rate globally, while poverty and hunger have risen sharply. India’s ranking in the Global Hunger Index and Human Development Index has become dismal.

The rights of employees and workers have been severely undermined, and the situation of farmers has worsened. Permanent jobs have been replaced by precarious employment. Modi’s policies have led to rising inflation, unemployment, and an increasing financial burden on the common people. They also criticized the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh for implementing the same anti-people policies as the Modi government, placing additional financial burdens on the people. The introduction of smart meters will further increase the financial strain on the public. The results of employment exams for youth in the state remain undisclosed.

In Shimla, some organizations affiliated with the RSS and BJP have played a key role in disturbing communal harmony, but Congress leaders have also been exposed during these events. As a result, both parties have been unmasked in front of the public, leaving the CPI(M) as the only viable alternative for the people.
