Congress Launches Statewide ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ Campaign Ahead of Constitution Day

The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee has announced a month-long statewide outreach campaign under the banner “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” (Save the Vote, Save the Country), following directions from the All India Congress Committee. The initiative will be carried out across districts, blocks and booth levels from 25 October to 25 November, with party leaders aiming to raise awareness about voting rights and strengthen grassroots engagement.

State Congress President Vinay Kumar said the campaign marks the third phase of the party’s nationwide programme against what it describes as attempts to undermine the electoral process. As part of the initiative, PCC leaders and District Congress Committee presidents will hold joint press conferences at district headquarters on 25 October, followed by meetings with block and district-level office bearers.

The organisational drive will continue at the grassroots level, with block leaders meeting booth-level workers and agents to discuss voter-related issues. Between 4 and 10 November, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and local party workers, acting as “Vote Rakshaks” (guardians of the vote), will conduct voter verification campaigns at polling booths. The exercise will focus on identifying citizens whose names may have been removed from voter lists and compiling verified records for submission to block party offices.

Vinay Kumar said the campaign will also include public meetings and village-level chaupals across the state from 12 to 30 November. These gatherings will be used to educate people about their voting rights and the democratic importance of electoral participation. The party plans to use these forums to discuss issues it has raised regarding the functioning of the electoral process.

As part of its national mobilisation efforts, the Congress will organise a mega INDIA Alliance rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on 1 November, bringing together leaders and supporters from across the country. According to the party, the event will serve as a platform to express a collective voice on issues related to democratic institutions.

Looking ahead to Constitution Day, Vinay Kumar said that Congress workers participating in various state-level yatras will converge in New Delhi on 25 and 26 November. These processions are expected to enter the capital through six major routes, including Saharanpur, Jaipur, Aligarh, Meerut, Dehradun, Chandigarh and Gwalior, culminating in a national programme focused on constitutional values and democratic rights.
