
Two Police Personnel Killed in Heartbreaking Road Accident in Shimla
A wave of grief swept through the Shimla police force on Monday as two dedicated officers lost their lives in a devastating road accident near Khalini. The victims have been identified as Head Constable Praveen Mehta and Constable Hemant Kumar, both of whom were posted at the Police Lines in Kaithu, Shimla.
The tragic incident occurred during the dark, early hours of Monday along the Talland-Khalini road. In a sudden and harrowing turn of events, their car veered out of control and collided head-on with a heavy tanker, leaving both officers critically injured.
Upon receiving the distress call, a rescue team from the East Police Station rushed to the spot without delay. Battling the early morning conditions, they worked quickly to pull the trapped men from the mangled wreckage and rushed them to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla. Despite the frantic efforts of the medical staff, the officers’ injuries proved too severe, and they sadly succumbed, leaving their colleagues and loved ones in deep shock.
Confirming the heartbreaking news, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shimla (City), Mehar Panwar, expressed his condolences and confirmed that a formal case has been registered. A thorough investigation is now underway to piece together the exact circumstances that led to this fatal collision.
