School Director Shot Dead in Shimla, Probe Underway

A shocking incident unfolded in Shimla’s Sanjauli area on Saturday evening when 41-year-old Manisha Mittal, an executive at Saraswati Paradise International Public School, was shot dead just outside the school premises. The attack took place around 6:50 pm, when two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire and quickly fled the scene.

Police officials confirmed that more than two bullets were fired, and Mittal died on the spot. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek said the area was immediately cordoned off and a forensic team was called in to collect evidence.

Manisha Mittal, originally from Rewari district in Haryana, had been living on the school campus with her young daughter for the past one and a half months. Her husband, Subhash Yadav, has been informed about the incident.

While police have not officially commented on the motive, preliminary information suggests that Mittal may have been involved in a family dispute related to the ownership of the school, which was founded by her parents nearly two decades ago. Legal cases linked to the matter were reportedly ongoing in Shimla courts.

Sources also claim that Mittal had previously expressed concerns about her safety. Last month, she allegedly went live on social media, speaking about mistreatment and claiming that her life was under threat. Another video later circulated in which a man reportedly stated that the dispute had been resolved.

According to initial accounts, the attackers approached Mittal under the pretense of asking for an address. In that moment, one of them fired at her. The school is located alongside the main road in Sanjauli, making the incident even more alarming for locals.

Police have registered a murder case and launched a detailed investigation. Special teams have been formed to track down the attackers, with officers examining CCTV footage and gathering technical and forensic evidence. Authorities say all angles are being explored, and efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible at the earliest.
