Awareness rally held in Mashobra regarding Tuberculosis Free India Campaign
An awareness rally was organized in Mashobra as part of the TB-Free India Campaign 2.0 and the 100-Day Campaign. Community members, school students, teachers, CHOs, community coordinators, and ASHA workers participated in the event.
Anmol Raj Koondel, senior supervisor of the Tuberculosis Elimination Program, stated that the program’s purpose was to educate people about the symptoms of TB. He explained that people were made aware of the causes of the disease, its symptoms, and preventive measures. Common symptoms of pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB include a persistent cough lasting two weeks or more, fever, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, and symptoms of extrapulmonary disease.
He explained the availability of free diagnosis and treatment under the National TB Elimination Program, including where and how to access services locally. Participants were also informed about short-course tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT) for eligible individuals to reduce the risk of developing active TB. He explained that a targeted survey and active case finding has been conducted in all villages in the area to identify symptomatic TB patients, high-risk contacts, and those eligible for TPT.
Community health workers and volunteers were sensitized to continue community outreach, identify potential TB cases early, refer them for testing, and support patients through diagnosis and treatment.
