CPI(M) Kasumpti Condemns Attack on Former Woman Pradhan, Seeks Probe
The CPI(M) Local Committee, Kasumpti, has strongly condemned the cowardly attack on Smt. Sushma, former Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Naldehra and an ASHA worker, calling it a direct assault on democratic values. The Committee has demanded a high-level, impartial, and time-bound inquiry into the incident, as well as the strictest punishment for those responsible.
The Committee expressed deep concern that earlier too, in Baldeyan, Kasumpti area, a small property dealer, Shri Med Ram, who belonged to a Dalit family, was murdered. Neither has the real cause of that crime come to light, nor have the culprits been brought to justice. Such incidents raise serious questions about law and order.
The CPI(M) Kasumpti Local Committee vehemently condemns all forms of attacks on the poor, Dalits, and women, and demands that the state government take concrete steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
The Committee stated that Smt. Sushma, who works as an ASHA worker under the National Health Mission, had intended to contest the elections this time from a seat reserved for women in the general category. However, in a planned conspiracy, she was attacked and injured.
During her five-year tenure, Sushma carried out several remarkable works of public interest in the panchayat and curbed the arbitrary actions of some influential people. This is precisely why certain forces do not want an honest, combative, and progressive woman to once again take the reins of the panchayat.
The CPI(M) Local Committee believes that the attack was not ordinary but part of a deep conspiracy. It demands a thorough investigation into the matter to expose the conspirators and ensure strict legal action against them. Otherwise, such anti-social elements will only grow bolder.
The CPI(M) has made it clear that any attempt to intimidate women, Dalits, and ordinary working people participating in the democratic process will not be tolerated. The party has demanded that the government and administration immediately intervene and bring the truth to light.
