Awareness was created by organizing a rally in Mashobra on World Tuberculosis Day

An awareness rally was organized in Mashobra on World Tuberculosis Day. Nearly 300 people, including Anganwadi workers, ASHAs, schoolchildren, Panchayat representatives, farmers, women, and youth, participated. Participants carried banners, placards, and chanted slogans, “TB-free Himachal, healthy Himachal,” to spread the message.
Subsequently, a workshop on tuberculosis eradication was organized in the CHC auditorium. On this occasion, BMO Dr. Sanjay Ranaut said that TB is not only an issue for the patient, but for the entire family and society. It is more fatal in women and children. We must emphasize nutrition, hygiene, and vaccination. He explained that the main symptoms of TB include cough for more than two weeks, chest pain, vomiting blood, weight loss, fever, night sweats, and fatigue. He appealed to the public that anyone experiencing these symptoms should immediately get tested at the nearest health center.
A message from the Chief Medical Officer was also read on this occasion. He stated that World Tuberculosis Day, observed every year on March 24th, marks the intensification of the global fight against tuberculosis. It began in 1982 when the World Health Organization announced a global campaign against tuberculosis. The day aims to raise awareness about the risks of tuberculosis, its symptoms, prevention, and treatment.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Baneet said in his address, “TB is an infectious disease that spreads through the air. However, DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short Course) therapy is crucial for preventing drug-resistant TB. In Shimla district, we achieved over 97 percent coverage last year.”
Anmol Raj Koondel, senior treatment supervisor at IGMC, said, “TB treatment lasts six months. Discontinuing the medication midway can lead to multidrug-resistant TB.” The dietitian advised eating protein-rich foods, such as lentils, eggs, and milk. Boost your immunity through yoga and exercise. The BCG vaccine is essential for children.
Former Mashobar Panchayat head Ram Singh said, “Our Panchayat will become a leader in TB eradication.” Former Block Chief Kamala Devi urged women to eliminate malnutrition at home.
