Himachal Braces for Snowfall and Rain: Weather Warnings Issued

Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for another spell of changing weather, with the higher reaches likely to see fresh snowfall and other parts of the state expecting rain until March 17. The Meteorological Department has sounded yellow alerts for several districts, cautioning residents about thunderstorms, hail, lightning, and gusty winds.

On March 12, districts including Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, and Chamba are on alert for stormy conditions. While March 13 may bring a brief dry spell in the low and mid-hills, a fresh western disturbance is expected to trigger rain and snow across the state from March 14 onwards.

Temperatures are also set to dip, with minimums likely to fall by 2°C to 4°C and maximums by 3°C to 5°C in the coming days. Despite light showers in the higher hills over the past 24 hours, most areas remained dry, with both minimum and maximum temperatures running well above normal.

Shimla recorded a minimum of 13.6°C, Dharamsala 12.8°C, and Manali 11.2°C, while Una stood out as the hottest spot at 33.2°C. In contrast, Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti was the coldest, with a minimum of just 1.4°C.

For residents and tourists alike, the weather ahead promises a mix of beauty and challenge—snow-clad peaks for travelers, but also storm warnings and falling temperatures that call for caution.
