Himachal Panchayat Polls: Delimitation Timeline Set, Public Input Invited

Preparations for Panchayati Raj elections in Himachal Pradesh are officially underway, with the government releasing a detailed schedule for the delimitation process. The roadmap sets clear deadlines for objections, appeals, and final notifications, ensuring that people have a say before constituency boundaries are finalized.

According to the schedule, the delimitation proposal will be notified on February 20, 2026. Citizens will have seven days to submit objections or suggestions, with February 27 as the last date. After reviewing feedback, the preliminary delimitation will be published on March 2. Those dissatisfied can appeal by March 11, and divisional commissioners will hear these appeals within a week. The final notification is expected by March 20.

By March 31, the government will release the reservation roster for Panchayat constituencies — a crucial step before the State Election Commission announces the poll dates. Officials have directed district administrations to strictly follow the timeline, stressing transparency and compliance with Supreme Court orders.

For villagers across Himachal, this process is more than paperwork. It determines how their local voices are represented, which communities get reserved seats, and how grassroots democracy will take shape in the coming years.
