A Welcome Bypass: Ghumarvi Set to Breathe Easier with Smooth, Safe Traffic
Relief is on the horizon for the bustling town of Ghumarvi in Bilaspur district. Thanks to the persistent efforts of Local MLA and Technical Education Minister, Shri Rajesh Dharmani, a crucial bypass is swiftly taking shape. With an investment of approximately ₹1.5 crores, this project promises to untangle daily traffic snarls and pave the way for safer, smoother journeys for everyone.
The Road to Relief:
The new bypass, spanning about 750 meters, will connect the bus stand petrol pump to the Old Sirkhad bridge, passing by the Ghumarvi police station and Nahar Singh temple. This strategic route is designed to divert through-traffic away from the congested market area. The project, long awaited by residents, is now in its final stages and is slated for completion by March.
Why This Bypass Matters:
Ghumarvi isn’t just a town; it’s a vital hub. As a subdivision headquarters, it houses important government offices, a major market, and several educational institutions. Its location on the Kangra-Shimla National Highway means it sees hundreds of vehicles daily. This concentration often leads to frustrating traffic jams, especially between Gandhi Chowk and the Tehsil office, affecting daily commutes, local business, and even bus services trying to reach the stand.
The new bypass aims to change all that. By creating an alternate route, it will ease the immense pressure on the town’s main market roads, offering a new sense of relief and accessibility for the entire region.
Voices from the Community:
The anticipation for the bypass is palpable among locals. Nagar Councilor Kapil Sharma notes, “The jam situation from Gandhi Chowk to the Tehsil office is a constant issue. This bypass is going to solve that long-running problem for buses and everyone else.”
Echoing this sentiment, Councilor Ashwani Mahajan adds, “Thanks to our MLA’s efforts, we are finally going to be free from jams. This will not only help locals but also boost market activity and business.” Local businessman Sunil Kumar and others also share the hope that the bypass will bring significant benefits to both residents and the commercial community.
A Long-Awaited Solution:
Minister Rajesh Dharmani emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “Traffic jams in Ghumarvi market have been a major headache, causing trouble for the public and losses for traders. The demand for this bypass has been pending for a long time. I am pleased that we are now resolving it, and soon this new road will be dedicated to the people, providing them much-needed relief.”
This bypass is more than just a road; it’s a pathway to a more efficient, prosperous, and less stressful daily life for Ghumarvi. The coming months promise a welcome change in the town’s rhythm, replacing the honks of gridlock with the smooth flow of progress.
