Late-Night Chaos at Kullu Bus Stand as Seat Dispute Turns Violent
A routine night at the Kullu bus stand took an unexpected turn when a group of tourists from Haryana allegedly vandalized an HRTC Volvo bus following an argument over seats.
The incident unfolded around 10:45 PM, just as the Manali–Delhi Volvo service was preparing for departure. According to officials, a group of young tourists became agitated after failing to secure seats on the fully booked bus. What began as a verbal dispute quickly escalated, and the group allegedly smashed several of the bus’s windows, leaving shards of glass scattered across the platform.
Police arrived within minutes of being alerted. Out of the six individuals involved, three were detained on the spot, while the others fled into the surrounding area. A search is now underway to locate the remaining accused, and an investigation has been initiated.
D.K. Narang, Regional Manager and Bus Stand In-charge, confirmed that the vandalism caused an estimated ₹1 lakh in damage to the Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation. Despite the disruption, he said the priority was ensuring that passengers were not stranded.
“All affected passengers were shifted to other buses so that their onward journey could continue smoothly,” Narang stated.
Police officials have emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of damaging public property.
