Rain and Snow Forecast for Himachal Pradesh After Prolonged Dry Spell

Shimla, December 3: Relief from the dry weather is finally on the horizon for Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has announced that the countdown for rain and snowfall has begun, with fresh western disturbances expected to impact the Himalayan region in the coming days.

Forecast Details

  • December 5 & 7: Light rain and snowfall are likely in higher and mid-mountain areas.
  • December 6: Weather is expected to remain clear.
  • Plains & Lower Areas: Dry conditions will persist, with no immediate rainfall expected.

Dense Fog Alert

Alongside the cold wave, dense fog is set to trouble residents. The Met Department has issued an alert for December 3 and 4, warning of heavy fog in the mornings around Bhakra Dam in Bilaspur and Balh in Mandi district. Poor visibility may cause difficulties for commuters, especially drivers.

Coldest Night of the Season

Himachal Pradesh has recorded its coldest night so far this season:

  • Tabo: -8.0°C (lowest in the state)
  • Kukumseri: -2.7°C
  • Kalpa: 0°C
  • Shimla: 5.0°C
  • Manali: 2.7°C
  • Una: 5.2°C
  • Nahan: 10.3°C
  • Other regions, including Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Solan, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Jubbarhatti, Kufri, Narkanda, Reckong Peo, and Bajoura, also reported minimum temperatures ranging between 2°C and 7°C.
