Delegation from Nawar area calls on Education Minister

A delegation from the Nawar region of the Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly constituency in Shimla district called on Education Minister Rohit Thakur here today. The delegation appreciated the steps being taken to make the constituency an educational hub providing broader academic opportunities and improved facilities for students nearer to their homes.

The delegation expressed gratitude to the Education Minister for announcing a four-year Integrated B.Ed course at Government College, Tikkar. They said this landmark decision would significantly strengthen educational standards in the region besides learning opportunities to students.

They also thanked the Minister for commencing postgraduate courses at Sawra College which would enable the students to now pursue undergraduate programmes such as BVoc (Hospitality & Tourism) and BVoc (Retail & Finance). The college will also offer postgraduate courses including MA English, MA Hindi and M.Com.  Apart from this, two years B.Ped course has been approved for LBS Govt college Saraswati Nagar further expanding higher education opportunities for local students as well as those from across the state.

The delegation lauded the decision to introduce CBSE in schools which would greatly enhance the quality of education and better prepare children for future challenges.

They added that the sanctioning of one of the two Kendriya Vidyalayas in Kotkhai, along with the start of several new courses such as the revival of Electronics & Communication Engineering (Polytechnic Wing), Electric Vehicle Engineering (ITI Wing), B.Tech Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering (Polytechnic Wing) at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Institute of Engineering & Technology, (ABGIET) Pragatinagar was a matter of pride for the entire constituency. These initiatives would position the region as a frontrunner in the field of education.

The delegation also acknowledged the sustained efforts and commitment of the Education Minister who has consistently prioritized the needs and aspirations of the region and effectively represented them at both state and national levels.

They also submitted various demands concerning local development to the Education Minister.

Rohit Thakur assured them that all genuine demands would be considered sympathetically. He said that the development of the state and the region have always been a top priority for the present government.

Jubbal-Kotkhai Congress President Moti Lal Derta, Gram Panchayat Pradhans, Up-Pradhans, local Congress party workers and other representatives were present on the occasion.
