Drivers and conductors were given first aid training at bus stations

Courtesy of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Junga, special workshops were organized at the bus stations of the capital Shimla, Taradevi and Dhali to train drivers and conductors of government and private buses in first aid. Medical Officer of Civil Hospital, Junga, Dr. Manoj Verma said that practical information about first aid was given to the drivers in the camp. He said that driving is a risky job and any disaster can happen while driving. To deal with such a situation, it is very important for especially bus drivers and conductors to know about first aid.
Dr. Manoj told that in case of an accident, if the bus driver and conductor are safe, then they need to be patient and restrained and the police should be informed immediately. He told the drivers that according to disaster management rules, to deal with any situation, the accident site is divided into three parts – black, green and yellow red. Yellow red means the injured passengers who should take out the first aid box kept in the bus and give them first aid and take the help of vehicles running on the road to take them to the hospital. Black means those who have died and green means those passengers who are completely fine.
Dr Manoj told how first aid can be done in case of fracture in the camp using the material available on the spot. Information was given on how to press the chest of a person and provide external breathing in case of a heart attack.
HRTC officials thanked the Health Department for providing first aid training to drivers and conductors.
